The BB&T branch on Daniels Parkway in South Fort Myers was robbed by a masked man yesterday morning. The man is described as being in his 40’s or 50’s. He was using a cane and did not display a gun during the hold up. Lee County Deputies are also on the hunt for a man who stole a $40,000 diamond ring from a jewelry store at the Coconut Point Hyatt. He was later seen at the Diamond District in the Coconut Point Mall. Call CrimeStoppers if you have any information on either of these robberies.
37 year old Collier County teacher Joseph Mejia has been arrested for allegedly conducting a sexual relationship with a student. Mejia was a technology instructor at Gulfcoast Charter Academy South in Naples, he’s been terminated.
50 year old Stephen Siroka of Fort Myers has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography and tampering with evidence. Additional charges could be forthcoming. His bond is $240,000.
Two men robbed a trailer home in Suncoast Estates and stole electronic equipment Monday night. The owner of the trailer was able to stab one of the suspects before he fled. The trailer is located near Case Lane and Heck Drive.
Jurors deliberated for about 7 hours before finding John Johnchuck guilty of throwing his 5 year old daughter off the Sunshine Skyway bridge in 2015. He’s facing a life sentence.
