Our partners at NBC-2 are reporting a shooting incident overnight near the corner of Royal Palm Ave and Hanson Street. No further information is available. Right now it’s an active crime scene. There’s another active crime scene just a few blocks away on Lora St.

 

An Immokalee man was injured yesterday when he fell  while working on the Arthrex building. Reginald Egelit fell 35 feet when he lost consciousness yesterday morning. He was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital. Authorities are continuing their investigation.

 

FHP has announced that they arrested a local man for allegedly driving the wrong way on US 41. 57year old James Bombardier was arrested Friday after police stopped him driving south in the northbound lane. He failed several field sobriety tests, police say he had also urinated on himself. He was transported to the Lee County Jail.

Ellen DeGeneres Extends Daytime Talk Show Run Through 2022

  • Although it seemed like Ellen would be pulling the plug on her daytime talk show in 2020, the Emmy-winning talk show host extended her contract through 2022.
  • Ellen released the news to her studio audience on Tuesday saying, “It’s been a lot of fun and 16 years is a pretty good run. Sometimes in a relationship, you need to take a break. But I don’t. You’re stuck with me. I just signed for three more years.”
  • DeGeneres currently hosts “Game of Games” and according to NBC Ellen will also host  three holiday specials this year titled, “Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways”

 

Lyft Adds ‘Panic Button’ That Calls 911

  • Ride-sharing service Lyft is adding a ‘panic button’ that will allow customers to call 911 directly from the app if they feel unsafe.
  • The button is one of several safety features being added to the app, including sexual harrassment training for drivers and larger photos of the license plate number to avoid mix-ups.
  • The changes come in response to the recent death of Samantha Josephson, the 21-year-old South Carolina woman who was killed after getting into a car she thought was her Uber ride.
