The GLAAD Media Awards Have Been Canceled

The GLAAD Media Awards is the latest event to get canceled because of the coronavirus. "Given our long-standing commitment to the safety of our members, sponsors, and guests, the #GLAADAwards will no longer take place on March 19th in New York City," the organization wrote on social media. 

GLAAD also posted a lengthy press release with more details about their decision. In it, they mention, "We will be in touch with nominees shortly with plans for how award categories scheduled for the New York show will be announced, acknowledging that a GLAAD Media Award nomination or win can raise the bar for LGBTQ representation and serve as a catalyst for media executives to greenlight additional LGBTQ projects."

Scheduled to host the show was Lily Singh, and Adam Lambert and Ben Platt were going to perform. Shows and movies nominated included Rent: Live, Rocketman, Downton Abbey, Killing Eve, Euphoria, and Netflix's When They See Us. Adam Lambert and Lil Nas X were among the artists nominated.
