Justin Bieber Will Not Be Attending This Sunday’s Grammys
It’s too late for the Grammys to say “Sorry” to Justin Bieber.
Justin Bieber won’t be attending the Grammys this Sunday because he’s not performing at this year’s show, according to Page Six.
Despite having four nominations for this year’s Grammys, Bieber called out the Recording Academy for nominating his album Changes in a pop category instead of classifying it as R&B, which is what he wanted.
Bieber is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance (“Yummy”), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Intentions,” featuring Quavo), Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (for his feature on Dan + Shay’s “10,000 Hours”).
As we previously reported 27-year-old Bieber voiced his displeasure in an Instagram post, saying, “Please don’t mistake this as me being ungrateful, these are just my thoughts take em or leave em. Thank you to the people who fought for me to even have any noms.”
The post read: “To the Grammys I am flattered to be acknowledged and appreciated for my artistry. I am very meticulous and intentional about my music. With that being said I set out to make an R&B album. Changes was and is an R&B album. It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me. I grew up admiring R&B music and wished to make a project that would embody that sound.”
Bieber later issued a statement clarifying, “To be clear I absolutely love Pop music it just wasn’t what I set out to make this time around. My gratitude for feeling respected for my work remains and I am honored to be nominated either way.”
He captioned the statement, “Please don’t mistake this as me being ungrateful, these are just my thoughts take em or leave em. Thank you to the people who fought for me to even have any noms.”
Bieber joins a list of musical artists who have boycotted The Grammys. As we reported earlier, The Weeknd did not get any nominations for his album After Hours. The Weeknd responded to the news via Twitter, saying, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

Zayn Malik also recently voiced his displeasure with The Grammys earlier this week, saying that you need to bribe them to get nominated for awards.
Malik took to Twitter, saying “F— the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.”
Drake, who shared his views of The Grammys said, “I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones who come after.”
The 63rd Grammy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS, Paramount+ and Grammy.com this Sunday, March 14th at 8 p.m. ET.
