Team USA Just Lost The Gold Medal Softball Game To Japan In One Of The Most Bizarre Double Plays I’ve Ever Seen

Team USA played Japan this morning in the Gold Medal game for softball. In the 6th inning, Team USA was down 2-0 but was mounting a comeback. With runners on first and second with one out – this happened.

The line drive struck the Japanese player in the arm, deflecting the ball to the shortstop who caught it on the fly. The shortstop then tossed the ball to second completing the double play. Threat ended, 6th inning over. Team USA went quietly with a 1-2-3 inning in the 7th giving the gold medal to Japan.
