Since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars Sunday night (March 27), the Academy has called for a review of Smith's behavior. But, the process won't be swift and could "take a few weeks" to come to a decision.

Smith won Best Actor In A Leading Role for portraying Richard Williams, (the father of tennis greats Serena and Venus Williams) in King Richard but shortly before, he slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke targeting his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

The Academy has addressed the incident per The Hollywood Reporter and will be reviewing Smith's actions:

"To be clear, we condemn Mr. Smith’s actions that transpired Sunday night. As outlined in our bylaws, the Academy’s Board of Governors will now make a determination on appropriate action for Mr. Smith. As governed by California law regarding members of nonprofit organizations like the Academy, and set forth in our Standards of Conduct, this must follow an official process that will take a few weeks," they said in a statement.

Academy branch member Rutanya Alda told THR: "Someone else should have accepted his award,” adding, "Why did he get a pass?”

Several celebs voiced this opinion on the topic including: Zoë Kravitz, Jim Carrey, August Alsina, Dababy and "King Richard" himself have also chimed in.
