Florida Man Mistakes Alligator for a Dog
It happened Wednesday morning. Ray Schott was on a smoke break outside of Warm Mineral Springs Motel in North Port when he saw what he thought was a dog on a long leash and approached it.
It wasn’t a dog. It was a 7-foot alligator and it took a gnarly bite out of his leg. Thankfully there were people around to keep the alligator away and get Schott medical help.
He is currently recovering from surgery and is expected to be OK.
Today’s takeaway, it’s Florida and all bets are off. If you hear something rustling in the bushes, back away. If you see a mystery animal, don’t approach. You just never know.
There might not be any official guidelines for gator safety, except for stay away. However, we do have some tips to keep you safe during hurricane season. Never hurts to brush up on these things.
