New Flavor At Baskin Robbins
There’s a new flavor at Baskin Robbins and it’s just in time or the long holiday weekend. Oh boy does it sound delicious. Churro Dulce de Leche. It begins with a churro flavored ice cream and includes chunks of the fried churro dough. Swirled throughout this delicious mix is rich dulce de leche.
Dulce de leche is basically caramelized milk. However, there is nothing basic about it’s flavor. You can make it at home by slowly heating sugar and milk. I have friends who would take cans of condensed milk and cook it down a little as well. You just have to watch the heat so it doesn’t burn.
It eventually becomes like a caramel, but a little richer. It’s divine. You can drizzle it over ice cream, use it as the center of cookies and cakes. Me? I would just eat it with a spoon. If you want to try making dulce de leche on your own, here is a pretty simple recipe from the chefs at Epicurious.
One thing to keep in mind. This is one of Baskin Robbins’ Flavor of the Month. Meaning it wont stick around forever. In fact, it’s only here for the month of September. So if these are flavors you dig, get in there and try it. It might be fun activity in between all of the in Southwest Florida this weekend. Ice cream is always a good idea.
