Governor DeSantis was in Naples yesterday announcing that he was arranging for Collier County to receive over $40 million dollars in Hurricane Irma relief. The funds will be used to reimburse the county for money spent cleaning up storm debris. That money will be made available immediately.
No charges will be filed against 42 year old Juan Cruz, the driver who hit Cape Coral teen Joseph Zimmer earlier this week. Police found that while Cruz was at fault for the accident, there was inadequate lighting at the crosswalk, which makes it difficult for motorists to see.
26 year old Aaron Merwine of Venice has been arrested on five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after police say he used a tile scraper to kill a chihuahua. He also threatened a woman who was at the scene. He’s being held on a $120,000 bond.
Liberty Health Sciences, Cape Coral’s first medical marijuana dispensary will be opening soon, once it receives it’s Fire Department inspection. The dispensary will be located in the old BB&T bank building on SE 47th Terrace.
