Governor DeSantis was in Naples yesterday announcing that he was arranging for Collier County to receive over $40 million dollars in Hurricane Irma relief. The funds will be used to reimburse the county for money spent cleaning up storm debris. That money will be made available immediately.

 

No charges will be filed against 42 year old Juan Cruz, the driver who hit Cape Coral teen Joseph Zimmer earlier this week. Police found that while Cruz was at fault for the accident, there was inadequate lighting at the crosswalk, which makes it difficult for motorists to see.

 

26 year old Aaron Merwine of Venice has been arrested on five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after police say he used a tile scraper to kill a chihuahua. He also threatened a woman who was at the scene. He’s being held on a $120,000 bond.

 

Liberty Health Sciences, Cape Coral’s first medical marijuana dispensary will be opening soon, once it receives it’s Fire Department inspection. The dispensary will be located in the old BB&T bank building on SE 47th Terrace.

 

Lori Loughlin Offered 2 Year Minimum In Plea Deal

  • Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli could go to jail for at least 2 years for their involvement in the college entrance scandal.
  • They allegedly paid bribes to get their daughters into U.S.C.
  • All parents in the case have been presented with plea deals but there is some jail time attached to it. The defendants are being encouraged to take a plea so that extra fines and charges aren’t added on.
  • Felicity Huffman’s serve as little as four months because of her plea deal. Loughlin and Giannulli are expected to spend more time in jail because more money was allegedly involved in their case.

 

Bank of America Raising Hourly Minimum Wage to $20

  • Bank of America is planning to raise the wages of hourly employees over a two year period.
  • Starting on May 1st, employees will see their pay rate jump up to $17 an hour and it will rise until it reaches $20 in 2021.
  • The investment bank and financial services company raised their hourly wage to $15 back in 2017.
  • The bump in pay will assure employees will make 41,000 a year.

 

These Guys Figured Out A Way To Get A Free McDonald’s Burger Using The Kiosks

  • Two Australian men have figured out a way to get a free McDonald’s burger using the kiosks.
  • The video was posted on Reddit and shows that men ordering 10 hamburgers without the meat patty for $1 each. When the meat is removed it discounts the burgers by $1.10 each.
  • You then get enough money from McDonald’s to buy a burger, but as the video shows you receive a burger and 10 buns with only ketchup and pickles.

 

You Probably Don’t Need To “Safely Remove” Flash Drives Anymore

  • Over the years, your computer has probably told you to eject your USB flash drive so you can safely remove it.
  • Whether you paid attention to it or not, Microsoft says it’s ok to take your flash drive out without ejecting.
  • Windows 10 has a feature called “quick removal.” You can pull your flash out safely as long as nothing is being written to it.
  • A Windows expert says Microsoft has had flash drive protection in place since Windows 7.
