Study Says Dads Should Stop Drinking 6 Months Before Conception To Protect Baby
If dads want to do everything possible to help their baby, they should stop drinking long before the child has been conceived.
A new study suggests that men should not drink 6 months prior to a baby’s conception in order to decrease the likelihood of congenital heart defects in the child.
Fathers who drank 3 months prior to conception were 44 percent more likely to have babies with heart defects. Binge drinking men were 52 percent more likely to have children with congenital heart disease.
The study says men should not drink 6 months before conception and women shouldn’t drink a year before getting pregnant in order to lower the baby’s heart risks.
