There are a number of events in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples and Port Charlotte to help parents, kids and teachers. We have a few of them listed here. In addition, this is the last weekend to enjoy tax free shopping in Florida. However, only certain supplies are included and there are some price caps. Still, you can save some much needed cash. If you have not been to Sanibel or Captiva since Hurricane Ian, ten months ago, this weekend might be a perfect time.
Lee County leaders are lifting the hefty $6 toll to get onto the island this Sunday. Not just this Sunday, but the next SIX Sundays. It’s an effort to encourage locals to return to the barrier island and support the businesses that have reopened following the hurricane.
Finally, on Friday, the National Park Service is offering free admission to parks. They are celebrating the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act. If you can’t make it to your favorite park on August 4th, the next free admission day is September 23rd for National Public Lands Day. The park service wants to encourage you to get outdoors and do some exploring. Just don’t forget the water and the sunscreen. It’s another hot day and weekend in SWFL.
