What SWFL Is Talking About February 21st
High School students from around the state will be convening in Tallahassee today to make their case for making school campuses safer. About 100 students are making the trip to the State Capitol. They’re looking for more effective gun control measures, including a ban on AR-15’s, the type of gun used by Nikolas Cruz in the Parkland shooting . They’ll be meeting with state legislators just a day after the State House of Representatives voted down a motion to take up a bill that would ban assault rifles
Locally…Marco Island City Manager Lee Niblock has been placed on paid administrative leave, following the revelation of a battery complaint against him. Council will not take any further action on Niblock’s employment until the matter is resolved. Guiilermo Polanco, the city Finance Director will take over the City Manger’s duties while the matter is investigated.
Cape Coral Police have identified a body found last weekend in a pond near Cape Coral Hospital as 27 year old Ryan Rogowski, a former worker with the city’s Parks and Recreation Dept. Rogowski’s cause of death is not known at this time.
