Mornings With Gina Birch

If you don’t know the brand, you have to check out Revolver Wine for Wine Wednesday. The company is the brain child of winemaker Bryan Page. He also runs his family’s Napa winery, Page Wine Cellars. A music lover, his Revolver line is inspired by a Beatles album.

All of his wines are big bold reds, with two exceptions. Those are meaty roses. By meaty, I mean they have substance. They are anything BUT wimpy. Brian spent some time in Southwest Florida last week. In addition to visiting many of his restaurant friends, he also hosted a tasting at Remedies Parlor. Remedies is an eclectic find in downtown Fort Myers.

While here, Brian unveiled his newest rose. It’s called Death and Glory and is made with petite verdot and malbec. Less than 30 cases are made. Blood and Roses is his better known rose. It’s a blend of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. The new vintage is finally out.

Rose aside, Brian’s red wines really shine. His personality also shines through their names and labels. The artwork features lots of  hearts and all kinds of hidden images.

The Fury, he jokes, is named after his ex-wife.  It’s a cabernet franc from California’s north coast. The Stash is an old school cabernet that has a  cigar box quality. It is rich and delicious. Finally, Vine/Vein is perhaps the most striking bottle with a sketch of a human heart. It is crafted in partnership with one of Bryan’s famous rock-n-roll friends. The heart makes the wine ideal for charity events. Juicy, with a little cola, it is a statement wine.

I put together a short video from the tasting. Click the arrow for some great visuals.

Check out Revolver Wine for Wine Wednesday. The wines are fantastic. In addition, their labels are great conversation pieces. Here are some photos from last week’s tasting and a couple from lunch earlier in the day.
