The first Thursday of the month is one of my favorite days of the month. It’s when the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Fort Myers stops by with the Sunny 106.3 Pet Of The Month. Today’s dog is just the cutest. Now we need your help. Help us find Foxie a home. First and foremost, Foxie is a male dog, not a female as we all assumed by the name before he arrived. He didn’t seem to mind the mistake. Foxie is a happy dog and super friendly with everyone he met in the hallway.

Foxie is a seven year old wirehaired terrier mix. Gary Willoughby, executive director of the Gulf Coast Humane Society reminded us that older dogs are amazing to adopt. They are house broken and they don’t chew up everything. They also sleep through the night. Foxie is crate trained, does well in the car and is good on a leash. He is about 31 pounds so he can fit into most apartment and condo weight requirements. Bonus.
In addition, Foxie gets along with other animals. Even big dogs. He is new to the humane society and hopefully wont stay there too long. Before Gary left, he gave us some quick reminders about taking care of our pets in the heat. Keep walks short and on grass if possible. Leave them at home where it is cool and make sure they stay hydrated. Here are some more tips and ways to keep your pet safe during the summer heat.
