Mornings With Gina Birch

It is the first week of the month, and the New Year, and we have a new Sunny 106.3 Pet of the Month. The station partners with the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Fort Myers to feature a dog that needs a forever home. So far our success rate is 100% and we want to keep the trend going in 2024. Now we need you to help us find this Chunk of a dog a home for the New Year.

Today, Gulf Coast Humane Society Executive Director Gary Willoughby brought in “Chunk.” That really is the dog’s name…Chunk. Once you see him you will understand why. He is a chuck of a dog, sturdy and strong. He is also a big teddy bear.

More about this Chunk of a dog

Chunk was transferred to the Fort Myers shelter from Labelle. He is a 5 year old terrier and English Bulldog mix. The dog weighs about 63 pounds and is house trained. That is one of the big benefits of adopting an older dog. In addition, he is not TOO old and still has great energy for walks and play time. Chunk plays well with the other dogs he has come into contact with. It is always good to make an introduction at the shelter if you currently have a dog in the house, just to be sure they get along.

The best part is that Chunk “loves all humans,” according to Gary. Gary sees a lot of dogs pass through the shelter door and he said this one is his top five favorite of all times. That is saying a lot. He really is a nice dog and well behaved in a new environment. Chunk also did great in the car ride from downtown to Fort Myers to the Sunny studio in Estero. Please share this post and help us find Chunk a forever home.
