Raising money for Hurricane Ian recovery has become a big deal in Southwest Florida. Even in cities around the state and nation, there are organizations doing amazing things to help provide funds for those who have lost so much. The need is greater than most people can fathom.
I’ve participated in a number of events and supported various organizations that I believe make a difference. Two weekends ago, for me, it was an event for the Heights Foundation in Fort Myers. There is no shortage of them so if you are looking for a place to give your time, talents, or treasures, start with things that are near and dear to your heart.

I know local Rotary Clubs do a lot in various communities in Southwest Florida. So when they asked me to help facilitate a wine tasting event to raise money, how could I say no. Wine and wine education is another passion of mine. Sip & Support proceeds went to the Club Foundation and grants that support Hurricane Relief
The event took place Saturday in the Wine Lab at Florida Gulf Coast University. This is such a great space. If you ever have the opportunity to attend an event here, do it. I picked four different wines from around the world. The caterer put together an appetizer to pair with each wine. We took a sip of the wine, took a bite of the food, then another sip of wine. The idea was to experience how different flavors and textures of food, effect the flavor of wine. It was a great experiment and a great time.
I so enjoyed watching people’s faces when they saw the difference it makes when food is paired with the right wine. Wine is suppose to enhances the dining experience. That’s one reason I love it so much.
