More to Wine Country than Wine
I may be partial to wine but I also know a little bit about spirits. While in Sonoma I discovered once again that there is more to wine country than wine.
There is growing scene for craft breweries and small batch distilleries. In the square of the town of Sonoma, Prohibition Spirits has a comfortable tasting room full of all kinds of small batch spirits and accessories. The family owned business bloomed from a love of limoncello.
They also make absinthe and offer a unique tasting experience, offering the proper way to enjoy the spirit. You’ll have to buy these online and have them shipped.
Hanson is a destination in Sonoma, with an outdoor space, an outstanding culinary program and neighboring wine tasting rooms if you want more wine. All of the citrus used to infuse flavor in the vodkas are peeled by hand daily. Family run and offering lots of fun, it’s a great space both indoors and out with room for picnics.
They have a wood fired oven and are adding more and more food and drink experiences. They also have distribution in Florida.
Both brands distill their spirits from wine. Here are a few shots to prove that there is more to wine country than wine.
But if you do want some Sonoma wine experiences, these are some favorites from my trip.
