‘Caddy Hack’ Golf Movie We Didn’t Need Is Here
It all started with ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’. That’s where we saw the lovable characters from our childhood turn into murderous, wild animals. This apparently struck a chord with people. Because then we saw news about ‘Bambi: The Reckoning’. The ‘Bambi’ adaptation is compared to the likes of ‘Cujo’ where the deer becomes a mutated killer. Because why not? Lastly, in this trio of flicks guaranteed to tarnish our childhood is ‘Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare. This one features a drug addicted Tinkerbell. Buckle up. It’s time for ‘Caddy Hack’.
All three of these movies were created by the same guy.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield clearly has a knack for turning lovable childhood favorites into monstrous killers. We all know these movies are made to be campy and over the top, but the production quality actually seems to be decent. Well, sort of. We’ve only seen the trailer for Pooh but it’s definitely better than some other horror movies we’ve seen go straight to DVD. Insert the horror movie ‘Frozen’ which is not a horror adaptation of the Disney movie.
Now, I’ll be honest, horror movies are not my forte. I get scared easily and tend to dream about movies and TV shows I’ve watched. So I usually avoid them. Especially the realistic ones that are really well done. I’m always down though for a campy horror flick that is good for a few over-the-top deaths and bad jokes. Like ‘Cocaine Bear’.
Insert ‘Caddy Hack’ the play on ‘Caddyshack’ the 1980’s golf classic that saw Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase and more deal with a destructive gopher.
But what if that gopher was murderous? That’s exactly what we get in ‘Caddy Hack’. Unfortunately, ‘Caddy Hack’ is not directed by the same guy who did the others. Unfortunately you can tell in the production value. This movie is guaranteed to be even more campy than Pooh, Bambi & Peter Pan combined. And, as expected, it’s going to be released straight to streaming and DVD.
I can’t say I’d pay to see this film, although the trailer will give you a laugh.
'Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey' Horror Trailer Drops, Twitter Reacts
Winnie the Pooh once said, “A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.” In the first trailer for horror flick Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Winnie and Piglet are out for revenge. In the flick, they go on a killing rampage after Christopher Robin.
The movie stars Craig David Dowsett and Chris Cordell as Winnie and his best friend Piglet, respectively. The murderous pair go after Christopher Robin because he abandoned them for college and the two turn feral, seeking prey and stalking the humans near their homes.
As director Rhys Waterfield (who also did an Easter bunny-themed horror film last year, titled Easter Bunny Massacre) revealed in an interview with Variety, the film was shot over the course of 10 days near the Ashdown Forest in England. Waterfield took the inspiration for the Hundred Acre Woods as depicted in A.A. Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh stories, which entered the public domain this year. To avoid copyright issues with Disney, which owns the interpretations of the character as seen in various films and television shows, certain elements were changed. They replaced Pooh Bear’s iconic red shirt for lumberjack gear and omitted characters like Tigger, Eeyore, Owl and Rabbit, who are still under copyright.
Describing the tone of the movie, Waterfield told the publication that the slasher will balance the absurdity of the premise with genuine terror as the beloved characters embark on their rampage. “When you try and do a film like this, and it’s a really wacky concept, it’s very easy to go down a route where nothing is scary and it’s just really ridiculous and really, like, stupid,” Waterfield admitted before adding, “And we wanted to go between the two.”
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is set to release later this year. Watch the trailer below:
