North Fort Myers Getting A New Single Family Home Community Off Bayshore
A new single family home development is taking shape in North Fort Myers, Florida west of I75 near Stroud Creek. Stonehill Manor from Lennar Homes. The planned development is for all single family homes ranging from 2,244 – 3,283 sq. ft. in one or two story floor plans. Initial designs show the developers are looking to give it a ‘neighborhood’ feel.

The building of an all single family home neighborhood is welcome in Southwest Florida as many new developments are heavy on condos and duplexes. The homes also come equipped with the most popular upgrades of quartz countertops and a stainless-steel appliance package. All homes will also feature a large lawn and three-car garage. Sales begin at Stonehill Manor in March of 2024.
I’ve not been out to the site to check on the feasibility, but if they can build a canoe launch on Stroud Creek, that could be excellent for recreation. The area also offers easy access to I75 and is close to the Lee Civic Center, home to the Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair. It’s also just a short drive to Babcock Ranch. The nearest Publix is 4.3 miles away, and if you’ve got kids, Stonehill Manor will be served by the Lee County School District.
Finally, since we’re talking location, Hogbody’s Bar and Grill is less than a mile away from Stonehill Manor. Tuesday night is wing night with (I think) 85 cent wings. They make some of the best wings you can get in North Fort Myers or really, all of Southwest Florida.
Edison Festival Tops Things To Do This Weekend In Southwest Florida
This week was action packed with Mardi Gras celebrations and Valentine’s Day. In addition, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins baseball pitchers and catchers reported for spring training in Fort Myers. Football is in the rearview mirror and it’s officially full steam ahead to baseball season. All that being said, the annual Edison Festival tops things to do this weekend in Southwest Florida. The Edison Festival of Light has a whopping 86 year tradition in Fort Myers. The three week festival comes to a close Saturday with the Grand Parade of Light. It’s the biggest nighttime parade in the Southeast and the longest running annual parade in Southwest Florida. People have been taping off spots on the sidewalks and putting out chairs to reserve their spots along the parade route. You can also reserve seats in the Fort Myers High School Stadium. In addition, the Boy Scouts of Troop 761 are once again partnering with the Edison Festival of Light to offer Street Seats.
Here is the information on the street seats that are for sale. It’s better than standing the entire time.
More things to do in SWFL this weekend
Another longstanding Fort Myers event takes place this weekend. The Greek Festival features all kinds of Greek food, entertainment and carnival rides. Tuesday was Mardi Gras and there were celebrations all over Southwest Florida. However, not everyone got enough of the King Cakes and beads. There are a few more celebrations this weekend.

Pine Island Art Show
This art show has been taking place for 52 years and is back. However, it is in a new location. The island is still recovering from Hurricane Ian damage so this year’s show is taking place at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center. This show features the work of all local artists. More than 100 are expected to be there with their unique works. The show is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free. More info here.
