In a new survey done across all 50 states, Florida residents are the most likely to break up over politics.
The survey, done by Matchmakingcompany studied many aspects of how politics can affect your relationship. We dug into the numbers a little further to see how Florida stacks up against the other states when it comes to politics and relationships.
Politics Over Passion – A Break Up Over Politics.
Nearly 1 in 3 Floridians said they would not go on a date with someone who is not planning to vote in the 2024 presidential election. So there’s a lot of Florida residents in the dating pool who make it a requirement to be involved. Here’s some other stats on how Floridians view politics in the dating world.
- Floridians are the most likely to end a relationship due to political differences (28%) out of all 50 states.
- One in six of residents in Florida say they would consider changing their political beliefs for a partner.
- Just 10% of Floridians say political beliefs do not influence their choice in partner when dating.
- 43% said it’s difficult to find a partner with similar political values in Florida.
How Some Other States Rank.
If you’re looking to get away from politics in the dating scene, you’re in luck. In some other states it doesn’t seem to matter. In Ohio, 58% of residents are willing to consider dating someone with significantly different political views. 51% in Wisconsin would do the same. 50% of Arizona respondents didn’t care if you vote or not. 19% of Californians say that discussions on politics should never come up while speaking with a romantic partner.
Divisiveness Is Everywhere.
There was once a time when a break up over politics would occur between Democratic and Republican views. But both parties seem to have widely varied views across their voting ranks, causing disagreements among many who thought to have similar ideas. Making it even harder to find a romantic partner who shares your views.
