Flare Gun Attack in Charlotte County Leaves Victim Injured
A man was arrested for shooting another person with a flare gun in Charlotte County early Monday morning. According to FOX4, The incident happened near Toledo Blade Blvd. and El Jobean Road. Deputies say the victim was hit and taken to the hospital, but luckily the injuries weren’t life-threatening.
The shooter, Nicholas Sperduti, didn’t exactly make a clean getaway. After firing the shot, he was found a short time later near a 7-11 at Tamiami Trail and Toledo Blade Blvd. Deputies arrested him on the spot and charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Now, when you think about dangerous weapons, you probably don’t picture a flare gun. But here we are. Sperduti’s weapon of choice wasn’t a gun, knife, or anything you’d normally expect… It was a flare gun. It’s usually used for signaling, not for firing at people. But somehow, that’s what went down early Monday.
Flare Gun Frustrations:
Authorities haven’t given a clear motive yet, but it’s safe to say this wasn’t some random accident. Whatever happened, Sperduti’s decision to use a flare gun wasn’t exactly the most thought-out move.
Sperduti is now sitting in the Charlotte County Jail. It’s hard to say what he was thinking, but when you pull a stunt like that, there’s not much to defend. He was caught, and now he’s facing serious charges.
This whole thing is a good reminder that if you’re going to get into trouble, maybe choose something less… obvious. A gun that’s for lighting up the sky isn’t for taking out your frustrations on someone. What’s next, a fire extinguisher? Hopefully, Sperduti’s flare gun days are behind him.
