Christmas Criminals Busted for Armed Robbery on Fort Myers Beach

It was the night before Christmas on Fort Myers Beach, when 3 unlucky criminals were walking the streets… Don’t worry this story has a great ending. Three Christmas criminals were arrested after committing an armed robbery on December 24th, leaving the streets of Fort Myers Beach safer for everyone on Christmas.

According to a LCSO Facebook Post, the crime went down around Connecticut Street, where the victim was ambushed by three men, later identified as William Crews, Jacob Refuse, and Keirson White. (They were on the naughty list) The three crooks allegedly tackled their target, demanded cash, and threatened them with a gun! But like all cowardly Christmas criminals, they then fled from the scene.

It didn’t take long for deputies to respond however. They quickly spotted the Christmas criminals vehicle and tried to pull it over. The driver, however, wasn’t going to make it easy. The car swerved and made sharp turns as it attempted to shake off the law. But the suspects didn’t get very far. They eventually took the chase into a nearby neighborhood, but the holiday drama was far from over.

As the car sped through the streets, Crews decided to make a run for it. He tossed his gun out the window and bolted on foot. Refuse and White stayed with the crook mobile, but the deputies were right behind them. Within minutes, a perimeter was set up, and all three men were taken into custody. What can I say? NAUGHTY listers.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno applauded his deputies and detectives for their quick action, making it clear that violent crimes like this won’t be tolerated in Lee County. In the end, Crews and Refuse were charged with robbery with a firearm, while White faced charges for fleeing the police and being an accessory after the fact. These Christmas criminals thought they could outrun justice during the holidays… But they were wrong… And very naughty.

A Violent Robbery Lands Criminal Trio Behind Bars “I am proud of my deputies and detectives for staying vigilant and ensuring this trio ends up behind bars,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “Violent crimes of any kind will not be tolerated in Lee County an my team is dedicated to putting in the necessary work to bring justice to those who fall victim.” On Tuesday, December 24th, deputies responded to the area of Connecticut Street on Fort Myers Beach in reference to an armed robbery. Deputies learned the victim was robbed at gunpoint by three male suspects, later identified as William Crews, Jacob Refuse, and Keirson White. Crews, Refuse, and White, tackled the victim, demanded money, and pointed a gun at them before fleeing the scene.Shortly after the suspects fled, deputies located their vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop at San Carlos Boulevard and Pine Ridge Road. The vehicle kept making erratic movements, attempting to evade deputies, and eventually entering a nearby neighborhood.At this time, Crews threw his firearm outside of the car window and began to flee on foot. Refuse and White continued to flee in the vehicle.Deputies quickly formed a perimeter, apprehending the three suspects without further incident. Due to the nature of the incident, our Violent Crimes Unit Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.Detectives established probable cause to arrest both Crews and Refuse for Robbery with a Firearm. White was charged with one count of Accessory After the Fact and one count of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer.

This time of year can be stressful and with that can come chaos on the roads and 3 Florida cities made the GasBuddy naughty list for aggressive holiday driving.

With the holidays rapidly approaching, it’s time to be prepared for the influx of holiday travelers.
