Mornings With Gina Birch

The first Thursday of every month, we are treated to a visit from the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Fort Myers. It’s not just any visit. We are also introduced to a dog that needs a forever home. Meet Gigi the Sunny Pet of the Month for May.

About The New Sunny Pet of the Month

Gigi is a sweet Sharpei mix which is not a typical mix for the shelter. She is also 10-years-old. Sadly, her owner had to surrender her due to finances.

10 years is considered older in the dog world but Gigi isn’t exactly ready for retirement. She still has a good amount of energy but also loves to hangout on the couch. Older dogs make great pets as they are usually more calm, potty trained and out of the annoying chewing stage.

She weighs in at just 38 pounds so can meet many weight restrictions imposed on condo and apartment dwellers. The dog is also good in the car for road trips, going to the beach or to meet grandma.

Speaking of grandma, Gigi has been used as an ambassador and senior living facilities and did well. She is great with people, all kinds. Including kids.

In addition, she is good with cats and other dogs. Yes, cats. Gigi has lived with them before. If you currently have animals in your home already, especially another dog, there is one thing the folks at the Humane Society recommend you do.

Schedule a meet and greet with your dog and Gigi at the shelter make sure they get along OK before adopting. We want to find Gigi a forever home. Can you help us? Please share this post on social media, with co-workers and friends.

She would make a great pet for someone.
