Limoncello is a Fabulous Find for holiday entertaining, especially the products from Fabrizia. My first memories of limoncello are from my first trip to Italy in my 20’s. Sitting in a picturesque piazza drinking the sweet, tart elixir after a stunning multi course dinner was dreamy.
Friends of mine make limoncello at home. In addition, I have sampled some good house made versions in restaurants. However, finding some in retailer outlets has been tricky. Limoncello, like many things in life, is subjective. While some like a more profound lemon flavor others prefer it on the sweeter side. The folks at Fabrizia sent me a box of goodies to try early this year. It hits the spot.

What is Limoncello
Limoncello is a sweet lemon liqueur. It is most famous in Southern Italy. In fact, it is said to be the second most popular liqueur in the country.
Fabrizia Limoncello
Fabrizia is the brainchild of two brothers. Phil Mastroianni was making limoncello at home. His brother Nick was still in college. In 2008, not the best economic times, the two took a huge risk getting into spirits and beverage business. However, they not only survived but also grew beyond anything they had anticipated.
The lemons are from Sicily and almost every part of the fruit is used. The zest goes into the limoncello. Its juice is incorporated into canned cocktails and even baked goods. Finally, a local farm repurposes the left over fruit
Fabrizia’s Limoncello pandemic pivot
Stuck at home during the COVID pandemic, the idea of introducing food products took root. Launching
Lemon Baking Company in November 2020, the limoncello is incorporated into all baked goods. Things such as oversized cookies, biscotti, lemon loaves, blondies, cake jars and whoopie pies.
Finally, Fabrizia is in stores and restaurants all over Florida, including Southwest Florida.
