20th Anniversary Of Kelly Clarkson’s American Idol Win
This week marks the 20th Anniversary of Kelly Clarkson’s American Idol win. On the inaugural show, she was the first winner. Hard to believe it’s been 20 years. Some would say it’s hard to believe the show is still alive today. Especially with all of the other singing and talent competitions it is now up against.

Kelly, and her success legitimized the impact that reality television and talent competitions can have on the entertainment business. Most contestants don’t see the kind of success she has but it’s what continues to drive them.
What about Kelly and Justin?
Fans of the show will also remember her making it to the finals with one adorable contestant named Justin Guarini.
Justin went on to preform on Broadway and is currently appearing in television commercials. You’ve probably seen the crazy Dr. Pepper commercials featuring Lil’ Sweet. That’s Justin!
On the actual day (09/04) of the 20th Anniversary of Kelly Clarkson’s American Idol win, she posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram page. It opened with “20 years ago today I won American Idol and it forever changed the course of my life.”
What a life that victory has given her. A few things she’s done in the last 20 years include: selling over 25 million albums, Grammy Awards, judging The Voice (another televised singing competition), and hosting a daytime talk show.
She end her grateful post with some words of inspiration. “I hope all of you have people in your lives that fill you with laughter, and hope, and happiness, and if you don’t feel like you have that, then keep searching because I promise you they’re looking for you too.”
