Florida’s Favorite Christmas Dish
Before we get to the state, let’s look at America’s favorite holiday cookie. This is good to know, in case you want to leave a plate of these around for Santa the night before Christmas. If you haven’t been 100%, cookies can do wonders with Santa. According to Monmouth University, the most popular Christmas cookie in America, per their study, is “frosted sugar cookies lead the list (32%), with gingerbread (12%) and chocolate chip (11%) rounding out the top three.” Other cookies that made the cut include snickerdoodles (6%), butter (4%), peanut butter (4%) and chocolate (4%). “If you want to please your family’s palate this holiday season, your best bet is icing up a batch of Christmas tree or snowflake shaped sugar cookies,” notes Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
Tastes Better from Scratch also states that the frosted sugar cookie is the most popular for the holidays. “The iced sugar cookie takes the top spot, stealing the show as the most favorite Christmas cookie with classic sweetness and festive decorations,” Tastes Better from Scratch stated. “Simple, delicious, and a canvas for creativity- it’s the ‘go-to’ for holiday bakers.” They polled more than 2,700 people to discover the top cookie pick.
As for Florida treats, according to Evite, Christmas butter cookies are the most popular cookie in Florida. Those are buttered and often have a chocolate coating. You can also bake cookies while listening to Christmas music and send them to family and friends. Who doesn’t love sugar cookies, really? According to Delish, the most iconic dish for the holidays in Florida is cranberry relish. “Though this iconic side may seem a bit basic for Florida, know that there is usually a bigger hit of citrus in their sauces,” Delish stated.
What’s fun is that in the Monmouth poll, they also asked Americans if they think they’ll be on Santa Claus’ naughty or nice lists. An impressive 79% say they are for sure making the “nice list,” and only 10% think they’ll on the “naughty list.” Apparently, 11% are unsure about which list they’ll make.
