Road Problems Create More Delays on Caloosahatchee Bridge
The bridge will continue to close each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Dec 14.
The work is meant to create a walking path between North Fort Myers and downtown. Issues with the pavement led to quick changes to keep both workers and drivers safe.
On the north side of US 41, businesses are hoping for the project to wrap up soon.
“We appreciate the community’s patience as this project moves toward completion. Once finished, it will enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists with a new sidewalk connecting North Fort Myers to Downtown Fort Myers,” said a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Transportation.
Drivers can check FL511.com to see the latest detours and road closures.
While they’re still aiming to finish by mid-December, road officials won’t cut corners. They’ve been clear that doing the job safely is more important than doing it quickly.
