Bad Trip for Shroom: Cape Coral Heist Fails Spectacularly
Let’s talk about bad ideas. A guy nicknamed “Shroom” decided to settle a $150 debt by rolling up to a Cape Coral apartment with two buddies. You know, a couple of criminal toadstools masked up and ready for mayhem. Their plan? Break in, cause $150 worth of chaos, and call it even. However, in the end, it was a bad trip for Shroom.
According to FOX4, this all popped off on December 3, when Cape Coral police got a call at an apartment on SE 5th Place. The victim? Just chilling, playing video games, when these three decided to bust down his door. According to the victim, things escalated fast. They roughed him up, with one dude even pulling out a gun and pistol-whipping him. Ouch.
Now here’s the thing, the victim recognized one of the masked men. Turns out, it was his old buddy “Shroom,” aka Lazaro Gonzalez Gonzalez, a 22-year-old with what you might call a creative approach to debt collection. Yikes. The victim owed him $150. But instead of working out a payment plan, Gonzalez allegedly declared he had just destroyed $150 worth of property to balance the books. Solid financial strategy, right?
Shroom Trip to Jail:
Not only did the suspects beat up the victim, but they also trashed his place and grabbed some cash before making their great escape. After about a week, Cape Coral detectives tracked down Gonzalez. No masks this time, just some handcuffs to accessorize his look.
Now, “Shroom” is feeling the vibes of the Lee County Jail. Sucks for him because he’s now facing charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm and battery. Meanwhile, the other two suspects are probably panic tripping somewhere knowing that the law is coming for them too. What do you expect, when your partner in crime is named Shroom.
