Here’s Why Selena Gomez Missed The MTV VMAs
Seemingly, every notable music artist was in attendance at the 2017 MTV VMAs, but two stars were noticeably absent — Selena Gomez and her boyfriend, The Weeknd.
Gomez and The Weeknd were both nominated for several video music awards, so we were saddened to learn that both were a no show.
According to Seventeen Magazine, Gomez was upfront about not being sure if she would be able to attend, citing a busy scheduled and a movie shoot in New York City. Still, Gomez was honored to have been nominated for two video music awards, best dance song, and best collaboration.
But what about The Weeknd? Where was he on one of the biggest nights of the year?
No one really knows, unfortunately.
The Weeknd was slated to perform at the VMAs, and was also nominated for four video music awards, including Artist of the Year — which is a big deal.
Perhaps, he just didn’t want to attend the awards show without Gomez by his side.
