Giphy Has Been Disabled On Popular Social Media Sites
Tech Crunch is reporting that popular social media platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat have temporarily disabled their giphy feature after users reportedly found an offensive gif.
According to the publication, the gif in question was racist in nature and was found and reported by a random social media user.
The gif was reported on Snapchat and Instagram. At that time, both companies chose to disable their giphy integration until the company removes the gif as an option.
A spokesperson for Snap confirmed gifs on their platform should never be rated higher than PG.
Giphy has since taken full responsibility for the offensive gif, citing a bug as the culprit.
