Maya Rudolph’s Response To Kamala Harris Becoming Biden’s VP: ‘Oh S—’
Within minutes of the announcement that Kamala Harris would be Joe Biden’s running mate, Maya Rudolph’s name was trending on Twitter. Many fans are excited about the possibility of her returning to Saturday Night Live to impersonate the politician.
And Maya is up for reprising the role.
Yesterday during a live panel discussion for Entertainment Weekly with some of her fellow Emmy nominees, the actress found out about Biden’s new VP pick from Angela Bassett. Maya’s response: “Oh, s—-!” Afterward, Wanda Sykes said, “Somebody’s gonna be very busy now,” and Rudolph added, “Ruh-roh.”
Maya then went on to talk about the possibility of reprising the role on SNL. She said, “I love going to the show. Any excuse I can get, I love. I just didn’t really anticipate traveling during a pandemic, but if there’s anyone that can work it out, I’m sure Lorne has some sort of invisible helicopter that can get me there.”
She added, “Ever since I was a kid, truly, I wanted to be on any kind of SCTV, Saturday Night Live, and I can’t believe that I got to work there, and I can’t believe that it’s my family still. I’m so thrilled to even be associated with the show and that I got to go back. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. Honestly, it’s my favorite place to play.”
Still shocked by the announcement, Maya lastly added, “I’m as surprised as you are, guys. That’s spicy.”
Maya currently has an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Harris on Saturday Night Live.
