Halsey Criticized For Posting Breastfeeding Photos On Social Media
Halsey has been giving fans a glimpse into life as a mom with a newborn since welcoming their first child, Ender Ridley Ayden.
On Sunday, the 26-year-old singer shared a mirror selfie of them breastfeeding their one-month-old son, who was wearing a leopard print onesie.
“welcome to the jungle 🐆,” she captioned the photo to their more nearly 26 million followers. While many of the singer’s fans loved the photo of the glowing mother and their child, others criticized the breastfeeding aspect.
“Why would you post this?” one person wrote. “Doesn’t anyone keep their s— private anymore. It’s really unnecessary.”
“body functions should remain private. be classy,” wrote another. “nobody wanna see her breast feeding like a primate at the zoo. we evolved. we are civilized now.”
“So like is you uploading a photo of you breast-feeding every couple days going to be a thing now?” asked another.
One user commented, “gotta keep up with every celebrity that has a baby. The ‘grab a camera so I can post a breastfeeding pic’ trend. And I am not anti breastfeeding. I just think it’s a silly trend 🤷♀️”
Despite the criticism, many of the singer’s supporters quickly took to the comment section to praise them for their “bravery” and applaud them for being a multi-tasking mom.
“Anyone who is offended by this needs to learn that breastfeeding is a normal, natural part of life and not something to be sexualized,” one fan said.
Another wrote, “What’s silly about it? The more exposure to breastfeeding people get, the more normal and less sexualized it becomes.”
Earlier this month, Halsey shared another photo breastfeeding their newborn writing, “#worldbreastfeedingweek 🤍 we arrived just in time!”
