The “Flowers” singer celebrates her birthday on November 23. Cyrus is one of the few examples of a child star who has gone on to have a successful career as an adult, first beginning with her role as Hannah Montana in the Disney show and movie. Her father is country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

The "Old Town Road" collaborator told GQ back in 2011 that daughter Miley's popular Disney channel sitcom, Hannah Montana, was responsible for driving the Cyrus family apart. Billy Ray's remarks to the publication came shortly after the show concluded and amid his first of many splits with Tish.
The reason Billy Ray's comments have resurfaced appears to be the timing of Miley winning her first Grammy awards recently for "Flowers." In her acceptance speech, Miley didn't mention her father whatsoever and left out some of her siblings, who seem to have sided with their dad. Following her live appearance at the Grammys, Miley took to social media to add thanks to people who she forgot in the surprise at the moment. Even still, she did not mention her father and siblings like Noah, Trace, and Braison.
Miley, 31, and Billy Ray, 62, starred on the Disney Channel teen sitcom for four seasons from 2006 to 2011. The show's massive success made Miley a star while also supercharging the career of her father, who was already an established country singer. While Tish, 56, appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast recently with her oldest daughter Brandi Cyrus, 36, the two firmly denied Billy Ray's past comments about the family being "destroyed" by Hannah Montana. Brandi added, "The family’s not destroyed, first of all. We’re doing great."
Tish theorized his GQ interview was him just "having a moment." Tish actually claimed that before Billy Ray took the Disney role, he was filming another show in Toronto, and the family was dividing their time between there and their Tennessee home. "It was really hard on the kids," she recalled. She suggested he take a pay cut to play Miley's dad in the show so the family could be together.

Tish and Billy Ray married in 1993 but filed for divorce several times. Billy Ray first filed for divorce in 2010, but the two reconciled the following year. In 2013, Tish filed for divorce, but the couple reunited a month later. Finally, in 2022, the couple divorced after nearly 30 years of marriage. Following their final split, it seemed the family was divided. When Tish got remarried to Prison Break star Dominic Purcell, fans noticed that only Miley, Trace, and Brandi were in attendance at the ceremony. While the wedding was taking place, it seemed as though Noah and Braison were taking their dad’s side, sharing photos on social media with Noah wearing a T-shirt with Billy Ray’s face on it. Billy Ray has since moved on as well with singer Firerose, marrying her in October of 2023.
10 Celebrities That Identify As Pansexual
"Pansexuality" is when someone experiences physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction to a person regardless of their gender identity, per GLAAD. This is one of several terms under the bi+ umbrella.
While there are many overlaps between pansexuality and bisexuality, the official definitions differ in their approach to gender. The prefix pan- means "all," while bisexuality is the attraction to multiple gender identities. According to Stonewall, there may be individuals who align with the way pansexuality is defined yet identify with the term bisexuality. Others may use pansexual and bisexual interchangeably.
Like bisexuality, pansexuality is often associated with negative connotations. Often, those who identify with being labeled as an experimentation phase or to be a stepping stone to being gay. However, according Stonewall, the term pansexual has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary since the early 1900s and has been used in its current definition since at least the late 1960s.
LGBTQ+ people have long been using a range of different terms to describe their identities. As we've progressed as far as social acceptance and social media, the terms are more widespread.
