20 Heartbreaking Photos From The Golden Gate Estate Brush Fires
Thousands of acres continued to burn this morning in Golden Gate Estates after brush fires ignited and quickly spread Wednesday, destroying many homes and forcing evacuations.
The 22nd Ave. Southeast and 36th Ave. Southeast fires merged on Thursday and are now named the 36th Ave. Southeast fire, according to the Florida Forest Service. The fire has scored 8,500 acres and is 10% contained son 10 a.m. Friday.
A burn ban went into effect Friday morning in Lee, Hendry, and Collier counties. The burn restrictions include yard debris.
The Greater Naples Fire District issued an updated mandatory evacuation Thursday night, according to NBC2. The below streets is not a comprehensive list:
- All structures in heavily wooded areas generally north of I-75
- West of Everglades Boulevard
- East of Garland Road
- Panther Walk RV Resort
- Club Naples RV Resort
- Residential structures in areas generally South of I-75
- East of Collier Boulevard, including the communities of Forest Glen
- Benfield Road
- Newman Drive
- Loblolly Bay Drive
- Stable Way
Mandatory evacuations were put in place Thursday night for the following locations in regards to the ongoing brush fires, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
- Beck Boulevard
- Le Buff Road
- Benfield Road
- South of the landfill to east of the landfill
- Sunrise Boulevard
- Jay Lane and Eagle
- Kingfisher Circle
- Keane Avenue
- Forest Glen Boulevard
- Periwinkle Way
- Jungle Plum Drive East and West
- Bishopwood Court East and West
Voluntary evacuations were also put in place for the following locations:
- 39th Street SW and side streets to include 11th Avenue SW through 31st Avenue SW
- 18th Avenue SE to 40th Ave SE off of Everglades Boulevard South
