Lee County Clerk of Court May Have Some Money For You!
More than $300,000 waiting to be claimed at Lee County Clerk of Court
FORT MYERS, FLA. Feb. 10, 2020 – More than $300,000 is waiting to be claimed by citizens and companies that have done business with the county in recent years, according to a statement released by Lee County Clerk Linda Doggett.
The Clerk’s Office has lists that also include uncashed checks for payments by the Department of Transportation and Clerk of Court. The checks include payments for jury service, goods or services, refunds of veterinary or ambulatory services, utility deposits and credit balances, tax deed sales, foreclosure sales and bidder refunds, recording services, and more.
“If you’ve done any business with Lee County, the DOT, or even served jury duty, I encourage you to visit our website to see if your name or company has money to be claimed,” Doggett said.
The lists contain approximately 900 claims for individuals and businesses. The amounts range from as little as $1 to over $100,000.
To check to see if your name is on the lists, visit Unclaimed Monies on www.leeclerk.org. To claim the funds, download a claim form and follow the instructions to submit it. The deadline to collect the funds is 5 p.m. March 27, 2020. If any funds are not claimed, they are forfeited to the state. To request the funds from the State of Florida Unclaimed Property division, visit www.FLTreasureHunt.org.
