Going To Aldi’s And Forgot To Bring A Quarter? There’s a Hack For That.
Aldi’s grocery store has a unique way of managing it’s shopping carts. You need to deposit a quarter to get one. When you return the cart you get your quarter back. On the Aldi website they say it’s so they don’t have to pay someone to collect the carts from the parking lot and to keep costs low. But – what if you don’t have a quarter?
It’s no secret that a lot of people no longer carry cash, and the old staple of keeping change in your car’s ashtray only works if your car has an ashtray. Mine does not. There’s a simple solution – just ask the cashier for a quarter. They’ll give you one.
Aldi prefers this to the alternative. Last year someone discovered you could simply shove the back of a key into the slot and it unlocks the cart.

Aldi’s warns that your key could get stuck and removing it could damage the key – and the cart. So if you forgot to bring a quarter – just ask.
